Programs and Services

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE 

Proof of crisis, residence and income is needed before any emergency assistance is provided. 

 

RENTAL AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE:  The Caring Place provides emergency rent and utility assistance to help keep families from losing their homes and utility service.  Assistance with payments and deposits for butane, electricity, water and gas is offered in certain situations. 

 

CLOTHING, FOOD, AND HOUSEHOLD NEEDS:  Clothing and necessary household items are provided through a voucher system.  Clients are given a clothing voucher to use in our resale shop during times of crisis.  Emergency food assistance is provided for a four day period from The Caring Place’s in-house food pantry.

 

MEDICAL NEEDS:  We provide one time only assistance with emergency prescriptions, medical supplies, diabetic supplies emergency dental and optical needs.

 

UNUSUAL CLIENT NEEDS:  This can be almost any item or service a caseworker determines as additional needs that may help a client through a crisis or provide a client with the opportunity to become more self-sufficient. 

SUPPORTIVE CASE MANAGEMENT:  One-on-one Case Management for ongoing support needs, goal setting, advocacy, and referral to community resources. 



PROGRAMS

FRESH FOOD FOR FAMILIES:  The Caring Place offers fresh produce the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of each month as a partner agency to the Capital Area Food Bank.  There are no qualifiers for this assistance.

 

REBUILD:  This program provides assistance to clients in need of minor home repairs. These clients must own their homes and reside within the Georgetown city limits.  

 

HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE:  The Caring Place coordinates the annual distribution of Coats for Kids,   Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.  Deliveries of Christmas meals are available for homebound clients within the city of Georgetown. Applications for Blue Santa are completed and compiled for City of Georgetown Police Department from The Caring Place.

 

L.I.F.E.:  A six-week financial literacy and money management class.  This class is open to the public, however a stipend is only available to individuals in our service area who are also referred to this class while receiving case management services from The Caring Place.

 

SSL CLASSES:  Basic Spanish is offered on and off during the year. 

EcoBUILDERS: are offered quarterly for those interested in learning tips on being more energy efficient.  Referrals for weatherization programs are offered as well.


H.O.P.E.: 
This program is a collaborative effort with Capital Area Food Bank.  It is designed to assist the elderly (60+) in our community. Staple food items are delivered on a monthly basis to TCP and handed out to the participants of this program on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
